Survey of Migrants in the Russian Federation

Realised by the group of experts leading by “ATOS Origin Belgium” company in frame of the project “Development of immigration legislation in the Russian Federation” (EuropeAid/124716/C/SER/RU)

The surveys were conducted in 2009 in different regions of the Russian Federation to find out what real changes had occurred following the enactment of the new immigration laws in Russia in 2007 and what are the main problems of migrants. Four questionnaires were drafted. The main target groups of the survey were as follows: officers of the Federal Migration Service – main governmental agency, responsible for migration issues in Russia; migrants coming to Russia for work purposes from CIS countries under the visa-free regime; migrants coming to Russia for work purposes from non-CIS countries (those requiring a visa for entry into the Russian Federation); former citizens of Russia returning to Russia from other countries - participants of the State Program on facilitating the voluntary resettlement to the Russian Federation of Compatriots living abroad.
One of the block of the survey was joined to the problem of Russian language for the migrants and their families.

In such words the Russian painter Ilya Repin expressed both his own attitude and that of his contemporaries towards the collecting activity of Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov. For more than 100 years the Gallery has proudly, and gratefully, born the name of its founder, who turned the institution into a prominent cultural monument to Russian art that has been appreciated by many generations.
